History of Xerox

1906 - Xerox Corporation was founded in Rochester (New York, USA) under the name The Haloid Company.
During the first decades, the company produced photographic paper;
1938 - Chester Carlson created the first ever "electrophotographic" print in his home laboratory in New York;
1942 - Chester Carlson received a patent for electrophotography;
1947 - A turning point in the development of the company. Chester Carlson approached the management with a proposal to buy the rights to the electrographic apparatus he invented;
1948 - The term "electrophotography" is replaced by the original name Xerox (from the Greek xeros - dry + grapho - I write), which becomes an officially registered trademark;
1949 - The first photocopier "Model A" was developed;
1959 - The Xerox 914, the first automatic office machine, makes it possible to copy documents onto plain paper;
1961 - The Haloid Company changes its name to Xerox Corporation;
1964 - Xerox developed the Long Distance Xerography LDX fax;
1970 - The Xerox PARC Research Center (Palo Alto Research Center) is opened;
1974 - Xerox PARC assembled the Xerox ALTO personal computer with the world's first computer mouse and the first graphical window interface to be copied for major operating systems;
1977 - Xerox introduces the first industrial laser printer, the Xerox 9700, to the market at a print speed of 120 pages per minute;
1980 - Xerox industrial laser printers replace IBM printers in data centers;
The company brings to market the first MFP printer-scanner-copier;
The first publishing system for PC is created - Xerox Ventura Publisher;
1991 - the Xerox DocuTech 135 digital printing machine with an industrial laser printing module was created;
1994 - Xerox Corporation becomes The Document Company - Xerox;
2000 - Launch of a new generation of digital printers - Xerox DocuColor 2000;
Xerox creates digital methods for protecting and identifying DataGlyph documents and a method for applying additional images / information;
2004 - The Document Company - XEROX becomes just XEROX;
The first industrial color printer Phaser 8400 with a print speed of 24 pages per minute is brought to the market;
2007 - Xerox launches 40 new devices for home, office and industrial use;
2010 - After the acquisition of ACS, Xerox became the largest provider of services in the field of document-intensive business processes, and also expanded the list of technology solutions for commercial and government enterprises around the world;
2012 - Xerox - in the sector "Leaders" of the Gartner report on outsourcing in the field of finance and accounting;
Xerox launches the Xerox iGen 150 CFM, one of the highest performing color sheetfed presses with 25% faster print speeds (150 ppm);
Xerox has proven itself to be one of the most innovative companies in the world with over 1,618 patents in 2011. Since 1930, Xerox has filed nearly 58,000 patents worldwide;
2013 - Xerox introduced the Xerox ConnectKey™ software platform, which integrates an MFP controller and a range of applications, including mobile printing and information security. The launch of this platform was, according to the analytical agency IDC, the most outstanding achievement of Xerox Corporation in 2013;
Xerox acquires the French company Impika. With the acquisition, Xerox brings the most complete portfolio of inkjet presses to the market;
Xerox is recognized as the world market leader in office printing infrastructure outsourcing by leading analytical agencies - IDC, Gartner, Quocirca and Forrester Research;
2014 - Xerox Eurasia celebrates 40 years of presence in the Eurasian market.
